Fine Dining Doesn’t Get Better than This
“What’s your favourite restaurant?” That’s anything but a casual question for the Nespresso World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy. Every year the Academy is called upon to scour the globe in search of the finest eating establishments. The results of this search are then delivered in the form of the S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list, considered the most authoritative guide of its kind. The 2009 roster, announced April 20th, reveals Spain to be the country with the most top-notch restaurants. El Celler de Can Roca in Girona moved up an astonishing 21 places from last year, placing fifth on the 2009 list and winning the Nespresso Highest Climber award. Mugaritz in San Sebastián, Spain, took fourth place. Noma in Copenhagen came in third, and second place, unchanged from the last three years, went to The Fat Duck in Berkshire, England. Once again in first place we find El Bulli, Ferran Adrià’s restaurant on the Costa Brava, which has topped the list a record five times since the ranking began in 2002.
