LOOKING FOR ERIC

"Un Autre Regard" on Looking for EricLooking for Eric, directed by Ken Loach, is amongst the most anticipated films of the official selection at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Based off a few notes written by former football (soccer) player Eric Cantona, Ken Loach and his screenwriter Paul Laverty were able to imagine the story of a somewhat awkward and unhappy postal worker who finds hope thanks to the coaching received from one of his idols: soccer star Eric Cantona. Cantona does not star in his own role and story, but lends an at times cliché portrayal that fans can have of a star. A light and romantic comedy, full of self-mockery, topped off by a happy ending, will surprise fans of the director known for his staggered productions created from a perspective particular to realism.             Co-founder of Wild Bunch, and husband to a British woman originally from Manchester, Vincent Maraval’s dreams came true upon working with Cantona, with the added advantage of becoming totally accepted by entirety of his in-laws.Randall Koral, NESPRESSO's special correspondent at the Cannes film festival, will file his report on Looking for Eric in the "Cannes Daily" section of this site May 19th at 11 a.m. CET.LOOKING FOR ERICDirected by Ken Loach Written by Paul LavertyCast: Steve Evets, Eric Cantona, John Henshaw, Stéphanie BishopBelow is the complete schedule for "Un Autre Regard" on the Cannes Film Festival, from May 13th through May 24th, at 6 p.m. CET :May 18 / Tales from the Golden AgeMay 19 / Little Nicholas May 20 / Bancs PublicsMay 21 / Enter the VoidMay 21 / Time That RemainsMay 23 / Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky
